Today you’ll discover two of Romania’s most treasured landmarks—one celebrating authentic rural life and the other surrounded by centuries of legends.
Your first destination is Viscri, one of Transylvania’s most picturesque Saxon villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, time seems to have stood still. Whitewashed houses line peaceful streets where horse carts remain a common sight.
Visit the remarkable fortified church, one of the finest examples of Saxon defensive architecture in Transylvania, and learn about the village’s fascinating history and its revival through heritage conservation.
Continue to the legendary Bran Castle, dramatically perched atop a rocky cliff. Often associated with Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the castle’s true history is equally captivating. Explore its narrow staircases, medieval chambers, hidden passages, and discover the fascinating stories of Queen Marie, who transformed the fortress into a beloved royal residence.
Return to Brașov in the late afternoon, where you’ll have time to admire highlights such as the Black Church, Rope Street—the narrowest street in Romania—and the beautifully preserved medieval fortifications.
